Lufthansa group flying higher in 2010
The Lufthansa group has reported an encouraging set of 2010 passenger figures.
The German airline significantly improved its traffic performance in 2010 compared with the previous year
The group flew 90.2 million passengers over the past 12 months – an increase of 17.2 per cent over the previous year.
Passenger growth was highest in the Middle East and Africa region.
Of the 90.2 million total, 58.9 million passengers flew with Lufthansa Airlines.
Swiss International Air Lines flew 14.2 million passengers in 2010, Austrian Airlines saw 10.9 million passengers on board and 6.2 million passengers flew with bmi.
Footnote: Lufthansa has been named the official airline of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. It will be held in Dusseldorf from May 10-14. Last year the final of the Eurovision Song Contest was witnessed by a total of 65 million television viewers, of which 14.7 million were in Germany alone.
