Lufthansa takes delivery of first A380
Lufthansa has taken delivery of its first Airbus A380, with a new-look first class cabin.
New features include sound-absorbing curtains and carpeting, a seat-bed that is 2.07m in length and 80cm in width, an air humidification system, and spacious, luxurious bathrooms with wash and changing areas separated from the lavatory area.
Based at Frankfurt, the 526-seater Airbus will take the German national football team to Johannesburg on June 6 for the World Cup.
It will enter scheduled service with Lufthansa on June 11 on the Frankfurt–Tokyo route.
By this autumn, Lufthansa will have taken delivery of four A380s, which will be operated on routes to Beijing and Johannesburg.
