Rafael Hotels opens Barcelona’s first indoor & outdoor spa
Casanova by Rafael Hotels has opened Stone, Barcelona’s first indoor and outdoor spa. Complete with a sand-floored couples’ treatment cabana, a wooden-decked, enclosed courtyard and an exotic spa garden, Stone is set to bring a spa experience with real ‘wow’ factor to savvy urbanites and further capture the city’s cosmopolitan spirit.
Following a complete reincarnation from an 18th-century limestone townhouse, Casanova is contemporary, yet essentially Catalan. Located in the heart of Barcelona’s University district, just minutes from Las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, and the city’s famed Gaudi creations, the hotel features 124 rooms with retro-inspired furnishings.
Stone has signature treatments and packages underpinned by its philosophy based on the healing properties of stone. A new way of nurturing what is at the body’s core, the aesthetic and restorative benefits of stone therapies combined with time-honoured healing techniques.
Representations of stone inspire the décor, with contemporary design realised in natural materials such as bamboo wood and pebbled flooring, creating a haven of tranquillity in the heart of the city.
Stone boasts five treatment rooms, comprising three Earth rooms; a Sensations space with a Vichy shower and bed, Hammam and chromotherapy; and a Volcano of Waters area for hydrotherapy treatments. Other facilities include a steam room, sauna and a serene relaxation area where guests can enjoy the soothing effects of a hot neck pillow whilst overlooking the Mediterranean garden where plants and flowers are lovingly cultivated for use in Stone spa’s treatments.

Following a complete reincarnation from an 18th-century limestone townhouse, Casanova is a chic, contemporary, yet essentially Catalan design dream. Located in the heart of Barcelona’s University district, just minutes from Las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, and the city’s famed Gaudi creations, the hotel features 124 rooms with retro-inspired furnishings and charcoal grey bathrooms including amenities from the White Company of London; a pistachio backlit bar; and the signature Mexiterraneé restaurant, showcasing Barcelona’s first ever ceviché menu, and offering a unique gastronomic experience.
