Pezula Spa at the Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa has been named one of 15 Top Overseas Hotel Spas by the Conde Nast Traveller (UK) Readers’ Travel Awards 2007.

It is the only spa in Africa to have made the list, which was compiled from information provided by the magazine’s readers, who were asked to choose the best that the travel world has to offer. Their choices were then rated according to various criteria, such as service and value for money, and the results published in the September issue of Condé Nast Traveller.

Keith Stewart, Chairman of the Pezula Group, believes that the spa industry is the fastest growing area of the hospitality sector. “Pezula Spa is an important draw-card for our hotel and we are very pleased that it is receiving so much attention – both locally and internationally.

Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa, which is situated on the Eastern Head of Knysna on South Africa’s scenic Garden Route, opened in February 2005. The Spa itself boasts nine therapy rooms, a sauna and steam room, a heated indoor pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi, nail bar, hair salon and post-treatment room with heated, vibrating water beds.

The Spa, situated within Pezula Resort Hotel, offers a comprehensive range of treatments and therapies from exotic scrubs and wraps to thirteen different massage options and complete beauty treatments, combining natural remedies with the most technologically advanced equipment.  Last year a range of exclusive spa therapy treatment products were developed exclusively for the spa using ingredients garnered from the natural fynbos vegetation of the Western Cape.

Accommodation is in 78 suites with private balconies or patios, log fireplaces and en-suite bathrooms. The main building houses the spa and a gym, executive boardrooms, Zachary’s gourmet restaurant, the Pezula Designer Collection boutique, a Champagne & Whisky Bar, Cigar Lounge, library and games room.

Zachary’s was named one of the country’s Top 10 Deluxe eateries in the 2008 Dine Awards. This category recognises restaurants which offer “high-skill, innovative cuisine, exceptional winelists, high levels of wine knowledge, magnificent décor and faultless service”.

Apart from the Championship Golf Course and award-winning Spa, the Resort has a vast range of facilities and activities. All guests have access to the Private Estate which boasts a sports complex with tennis courts, a sports oval and golf driving range.

On the estate is the Barnyard and Country Store with its animal touch farm. It is here that guests meet for horse riding, nature trails through the Estate’s indigenous forests and canoe trips up the Noetzie River. A shuttle service from the hotel also takes guests to secluded Noetzie beach.
