On May 2 Silversea Cruises announced that its four award-winning ships are offering  Mediterannean cruises whose highlights include front-row seats for America’s Cup, acclaimed guest chefs and access to several artistic treasures in Northern Italy.

Silversea’s guests can experience the 32nd America’s Cup regatta when Silver Whisper drops anchor in the Mediterranean harbor of Valencia for this famous yachting competition. They can follow the competition on deck on any of a number of large-screen televisions while guest experts give a play-by-play account of the races, the teams and the history of this legendary event.  This unique 8-day voyage from Barcelona to Barcelona departs on June 22, 2007.  All-inclusive, cruise-only fares start from £4,070 per person, including all port charges, government fees, taxes and special event fees, and a 10% Early Booking Incentive.

On Culinary Arts sailings, guest chefs display their exceptional talents during informative and entertaining cooking demonstrations. Guests can taste and learn firsthand the secrets of enticing signature dishes created by award-winning international chefs.  Sample cruises include:

  • Silver Whisper’s 7-day “Realms of Myth and Legend” cruise from Athens to Venice, August 3-10, 2007 (Voyage 4727).  Guest Chef:  Gale Gand, Tru, Chicago, Illinois.  Early Booking Incentive fares start at £3,316 per person.
  • Silver Whisper’s 7-day “Timeless Treasures” cruise from Venice to Rome, August 10-17, 2007 (Voyage 4728).  Guest Chef:  Renato Piccolotto, Hotel Cipriani, Venice, Italy.  Early Booking Incentive fares start at £3,136 per person.

 

Through Silversea’s exclusive partnership with FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (the National Trust for Italy) – guests can extend their voyage on 20 itineraries with optional four-night, pre- and post-cruise land excursions to Northern Italy to explore rarely seen historical properties and artistic treasures.  The land extensions feature deluxe accommodations, all transportation, transfers, guided sightseeing and some meals.  Prices start from $2,995 per guest, double occupancy.  Highlights include:

Italy’s Romantic Landscape:  With the Alps as backdrop, cruise Lake Como to FAI’s 18th century Villa del Balbianello.  In the lovely town of Cernobbio, stay at the Villa d’Este hotel, one of Europe’s most luxurious properties.  Sail by private boat to explore the picturesque village of Bellagio.  (Programme departs from Monte Carlo and Nice.)  

Italian Treasures:  In Milan stay at the elegant Hotel Principe di Savoia and explore Italy’s fashion capital.  Travel through breathtaking scenery to the charming lakeside town of Como.  The highlight of your tour will be a picturesque boat ride to FAI’s romantic 18th-century Villa del Balbianello.  You’ll also visit Villa Carlotta, renowned for the beauty of its gardens, blazing with the colours of acres of flowers.  (Programme departs from Venice.)
