Mabrian reveals Russian traveller trends
Travel intelligence firm Mabrian has released new data on outbound Russian traveller trends.
Research finds Turkey is the fastest growing destination for Russians in 2022.
Other rising destinations are in the Middle East and Asia, notably the UAE and Thailand.
The study is based on an analysis of the hotel demand of Russian travellers and the average hotel room price in the more than 700 destinations.
Mabrian used its Travel Intelligence platform to analyse more than two million reviews posted by Russians.
Regional destinations Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan have now become part of the top 20 preferred destinations for Russians in 2022.
The current geopolitical situation has impacted popular European destinations most.
These include Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and Greece.
They have seen a drastic decrease in Russian tourists.
Italy has been the hardest hit, compared to 2019 data.
The impact of sanctions and the difficulty of travelling from Russia to Europe have taken their toll.
The fall in value of the ruble during the summer of 2022 is another key factor, Mabrian says.
Carlos Cendra, Director of Marketing & Sales said: “The Russian market plays a crucial role and it has become essential for destinations to understand evolving trends.”
“Our study shows that the Russian travel market has been deeply impacted.”
