Macao launches more subsidised tours for residents
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is adding another 10 tour itineraries to its subsidised local tours programme.
The ‘Macao Ready Go! Local Tours’ scheme was launched last month and offers low cost tours for residents.
So far has been a big success with thousands of people participating.
It originally kicked off with 15 itineraries in two different categories – community-based tours and leisure tours.
Residents get subsidies for one tour in each category.
Another 10 tours are now being added.
The government-sponsored scheme is providing a lifeline for tour guides who have been without work for several months.
It is also designed to give local residents a chance to explore local communities and give them a better appreciation of the tourism sector’s importance in Macau.
Residents can sign up for tours at participating travel agencies.
The scheme runs until the end of September.
