Macau rides high with mainland visitors
Preliminary figures from the Macau Government Tourist Office show visitor arrivals to Macau were in excess of one million during the January 31 to February 6 Year of the Horse celebrations, with 770,000 hailing from mainland China during its Golden Week Holidays.
Among local businesses to benefit strongly during the record-breaking times were the three to five-star hotels which recorded an average occupancy rate of almost 95%, a rise of 5.4% year-on-year.
Average occupancy rate of five-star hotels was 97.2%.
The MGTO presented a series of outdoor celebrations for this year’s Spring Festival, including the Parade of Gigantic Golden Dragon, Parade for the Celebration of the Year of the Horse and a fireworks display for the celebration of 2014 Chinese New Year.
