British Travel Awards broadcast partner Made Television is to sponsor the LGBT Awards being introduced for the first time this year.

Specialist LGBT holiday companies and mainstream tour operators with a strong LGBT product are invited to register for free by June 20.

The category will be split into three awards for best small, medium and large LGBT company.

Made TV is the largest operator of city TV stations in the UK, with channels on air in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool and Tyne & Wear.

Made TV’s CEO Jamie Conway said: "We are delighted to sponsor the brand new LGBT Awards at this year’s British Travel Awards. Made Television is committed to providing programming which is relevant to all our viewers and we’re proud of the LGBT original content we have produced to date.

"Programmes such as ‘Made with Pride’, ‘Drag Idol’ and ‘Made on the Dancefloor’ have all proved very popular shows with our viewers and have helped us build an ongoing and authentic dialogue with the LGBT community."

Like last year, Made Television will film the awards ceremony for a one-hour special programme to be screened on December 1. Winners and sponsors will also get the chance to be interviewed off stage for possible inclusion in the coverage.

In the run up to the awards. Made TV will be promoting voting with nominee profile slots and segments featuring the prize voting incentives.

BTA CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "The travel industry has embraced diversity and invested in many specialisms, including marketing holidays that are welcoming and appealing to the LGBT community.

"There has been a marked increase in recent years of the number of travel companies claiming to offer more diverse and tailor-made holiday products, and it’s now time to put them to test and ask their loyal customers to vote for the companies who are offering the best holidays for the LGBT community.

"I’m delighted Made Television is sponsoring the first ‘Best LGBT Travel Company’ at this year’s BTAs. Made TV has been creative and innovative in their programming and were the first UK channel network to host a dance competition open to same sex couples, with ‘Made on the Dancefloor’ and their ‘Made with Pride’ multi-platform lifestyle show."
