Major upgrade for fourth HAL ship

SYDNEY – Holland America’s 1,260-passenger Statendam, has become the fourth ship in a series of five to have been extensively refurbished under the USD525 million “Signature of Excellence” program. The ship, which is Holland America’s oldest, entered service in 1993.

The refurbishment included new stateroom furnishings and bathroom upgrades; Canaletto, a complimentary Italian eatery; a nightclub-style Showroom at Sea; and a stylish lounge called Mix, which combines three distinct bars into one area.
 
Refits to the ms Veendam, ms Rotterdam and ms Ryndam have been completed and Maasdam is scheduled to receive upgrades in April 2011,.
