MakeMyTrip takes legal action over copycat travel firms

Saturday, 19 Dec, 2018 0

India’s largest online travel agency MakeMyTrip wants to crack down on a number of travel upstarts trying to steal its thunder.

It is taking legal action against five firms it says are infringing on its trademarked name.

It alleges MakeMyYatra, MakeMyJourney, Make My Happy Journey, Pick My Trip and Superb My Trip are copying its name and in some cases have a very similar logo.

In a petition to the Delhi High Court, MakeMyTrip said they are using ‘deceptively similar sounding names.’

It wants to safeguard its huge advertising and marketing spend which makes up nearly half of annual revenue.

The Delhi High Court issued interim injunctions against Pick My Trip and MakeMyYatra while the cases are pending.
