Malaysia Airlines inks British Airways codeshare partnership
Malaysia Airlines has signed a new codeshare agreement with oneworld partner British Airways.
BA’s code will be added to 14 destinations Malaysia Airlines serves, including Langkawi, Penang and Kota Kinabalu, and nine cities in Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Vietnam.
Passengers flying from the UK will be able to check their bags through to their final destination.
Seats are available to book from today.
BA said the agreement gives passengers a greater choice of routes, destinations and fares and more flexibility for travel between the UK and Asia Pacific.
BA’s Executive Club members will gain enhanced frequent flyer benefits and Avios can be used on reward flights, upgrades, hotels, experiences and for part payment.
BA operates daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur.
As part of the agreement, Malaysia Airlines customers will be able to book seats directly on malaysiaairlines.com to Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle via Heathrow on British Airways flights.
Subject to regulatory approval, Malaysia Airlines will also be codesharing with BA to Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Vienna, Brussels, Geneva, Hamburg, Lyon, Toulouse, Paris and Zurich.
