Malaysia Carnival showcases culture in the UK
Colourful Malaysian culture, food and art will transform a quiet corner of Hertfordshire later this month for the Malaysia Carnival 2024.
Tourism Malaysia announced the Carnival will mark Malaysia’s Independence Day, on 31 August 2024 at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre in Brickendonbury, Hertfordshire.
From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, the free event offers an immersive experience into Malaysia’s cuisine and culture, alongside games and activities.
An event initiated almost 20 years ago, the annual gathering has received thousands of visitors in the past.
This year Malaysia celebrates the 67th Independence Day.
High Commissioner Dato’ Zakri Jaafar said: “The Malaysia Carnival is a wonderful occasion to celebrate our heritage and showcase Malaysia’s vibrant and diverse culture.”
“We are excited to welcome everyone to share our traditions and hospitality.”
The carnival will feature cultural performances: joget dance, silat martial arts and live music.
Food stalls will offer Malaysian dishes like Satay, Nasi Lemak, Kuih, and more;
There will be fusion and arts displays as well as music and entertainment, a marketplace selling Malaysia goods, and children’s activities such as face painting and traditional games.
