Malaysia elected to ICAO Council
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has been elected to the world’s highest aviation body, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO Council), at the 36th ICAO Assembly in Montreal last week.
Malaysia Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy, who headed the country’s delegation to the assembly, said Malaysia was deeply honoured at being elected for the first time by 190 contracting states to sit on the powerful council.
Malaysia has been a member of ICAO for the past 50 years but has only now been elected to sit on its council, which is instrumental in deciding matters related to world civil aviation.
