Man accused of Cassie Hayes murder appears in court via video link
The man accused of murdering TUI travel agent Cassie Hayes has accepted he killed her unlawfully, Liverpool Crown Court has heard.
Andrew Burke, aged 30, appeared via video link from HMP Liverpool, but did not enter a formal plea.
David McLachlan, QC, defending, said Burke had been seen by his solicitors on four occasions and they were making ‘considerable progress’, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The QC added: "There will be no issue that she was unlawfully killed.
"He will accept responsibility for her homicide and the issue will be whether or not partial defence applies in the case."
The case has been adjourned until April 9 for psychiatric reports. Burke has been remanded in custody.
Cassie, a 28-year-old mum, died after being attacked at the TUI travel agency in Chapel Street, Southport, where she was working on Saturday January 13.
