Manchester Airport unveils 10-year transformation plan
Manchester Airport is to spend £1billion over the next 10 years revamping its terminal facilities, which will include creating an area where passengers can clear US immigration before boarding their flights.
Money will also be spent expanding Terminal 2 and improving self-service and check-in facilities, improvements to Terminal 3 and creating new food and retail outlets.
The plans, due to be unveiled today, will be complete by 2025.
Charlie Cornish, chief executive of airport owners MAG, told the BBC: "We’re setting out how the airport will contribute to the development of a ‘northern powerhouse’ and demonstrating the dynamic, ‘can-do’ spirit that sums up the region.
"The transformation programme will ensure the airport plays its full part in driving economic growth and develops as a key part of the UK transport infrastructure."
