Manchester Airports Group expresses interest in buying Gatwick
Manchester Airports Group has told the BBC it would be interested in buying Gatwick Airport if BAA was forced to sell it.
MAG chief executive told Radio 4’s Today programme that it would be interested in a purchase at a “sensible price†should the Competition Commission force Ferrovial to break up BAA.
The commission is concerned that BAA dominates the airports market in the South East of England, as it runs Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted.
Industry experts believe Gatwick is the most likely airport to be sold off and have valued it at around £2bn
MAG owns Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports.
