Manchester United to open casino?

Sunday, 11 May, 2005 0

The world’s biggest football club, Manchester United, has announced plans to build a casino – complete with a hotel and restaurants – near its Old Trafford stadium.

According to The Guardian, the proposed development in the Salford Quays area of Manchester will be in conjunction with Las Vegas Sands, which owns the Venetian hotel in the Nevada resort.

The newspaper states that Trafford council has agreed in principle to support the proposals.

Manchester United’s commercial director is quoted as saying: “If selected, it will provide first-class accommodation on one of the most famous sporting sites in the world.”

The club claims that the development would help to regenerate Salford Quays.
