Marina Bay Sands set for multi-billion dollar expansion
Las Vegas Sands has announced a big expansion of its Singapore landmark property Marina Bay Sands.
Costing an estimated $3.3 billion, a new tower will be constructed next to the iconic Marina Bay Sands three-tower structure housing a 1,000 unit all-suite hotel.
It will have a sky roof and pool, F&B outlets, ballrooms and exhibition halls.
Moshe Safdie, who designed the original property, will be part of the design team.
In addition there will be a new 15,000-seat arena which will be a fitting venue to ‘attract top entertainers from Asia and around the world,’ the company said.
"The expansion of our Singapore IR is a key component of our company’s strategic growth plan and also reflects the strong tourism and business potential in Singapore," said Rob Goldstein, president and chief operating officer.
"The additional hotel rooms are extremely important to us in addressing the demand created by our leisure and business tourists."
The company hasn’t disclosed a timeline for completion of the resort’s expansion yet.
