Marriott International introduces Ask Bonvoy, a new AI-powered search engine

Marriott International unveiled Ask Bonvoy, a new artificial intelligence-powered conversational search experience designed to transform how travelers discover destinations and book stays across its global portfolio of nearly 10,000 hotels and resorts in 146 countries.

The new platform, currently launching in beta, allows travelers to search for accommodations using natural, everyday language rather than relying solely on traditional filters such as destination, dates, or brand preferences.

Ask Bonvoy is initially available in U.S. English on Marriott.com and through the Marriott Bonvoy mobile apps for iOS and Android to a select group of Marriott Bonvoy members and newly enrolled users.

The company said the phased introduction reflects its commitment to refining the customer experience through real-time feedback before expanding the service worldwide later this year.

Marriott President and CEO Anthony Capuano said the launch continues the company’s long history of embracing innovation and adapting to changing traveler expectations.

For nearly a century, Marriott has embraced change and been a leading innovator in the industry,” Capuano said. “Ask Bonvoy builds on that legacy, bringing conversational AI to the heart of how travelers explore Marriott’s extraordinary global portfolio.

Personalized Travel Discovery

Powered by Marriott’s proprietary AI architecture, Ask Bonvoy is designed to interpret conversational search requests, understand a traveler’s purpose, and recommend suitable destinations and properties. The system draws exclusively on Marriott-owned and verified property data rather than information sourced from the open web.

This approach is intended to provide travelers with more accurate details about hotel amenities, dining venues, wellness facilities, golf courses, family-friendly offerings, and other experiences available at Marriott properties worldwide.

Travelers can use prompts such as planning a golf getaway, searching for a beachfront spa retreat, or finding a family vacation destination with specific amenities. The platform then presents curated hotel recommendations tailored to those preferences.

According to Drew Pinto, Marriott International’s Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue & Technology Officer, consumer demand for more intuitive travel planning tools continues to grow. “Ask Bonvoy is designed to meet travelers in a modern way at every point in their journey,” Pinto said.

The conversational search feature complements Marriott’s existing booking engine rather than replacing it. Once travelers identify a preferred hotel or destination, they are seamlessly transferred to Marriott’s traditional reservation system to complete the booking process. Marriott also plans to introduce loyalty points-based searches as the platform evolves.

The launch marks another milestone in Marriott’s wider digital transformation strategy. The hospitality giant is collaborating with several leading technology companies, including Google on its upcoming AI-powered travel tools and OpenAI through its Ad Pilot Program.

Over time, Ask Bonvoy is expected to become available to Marriott Bonvoy’s nearly 283 million members worldwide.
