Marriott expands partnership with Simon Shopping Centers for more mall hotels
Marriott International is betting that guests will continue to shop while on vacation or business trips.
The Bethesda-based hotel giant is expanding a partnership with shopping mall owner Simon Property Group for another five hotels within existing malls.
Marriott already has 15 hotels located in Simon Property malls including a Ritz Carlton at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.
It will open at least five new mall hotels with two AC Hotels in South Florida at Fort Lauderdale Sawgrass Mills, and at Miami Dadeland.
There will also be a Courtyard Marriott at Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis, a Marriott Residence Inn at Long Island Jericho and a Fairfield Inn & Suites at Dallas Garland.
"With consumers increasingly gravitating toward walkable, mixed-use communities, opening new hotels alongside Simon’s thriving retail destinations is an important part of Marriott International’s growth strategy," said Eric Jacobs, Marriott International chief development officer.
Simon Centers’ shopping, dining and, entertainment amenities right on the doorstop are the ‘perfect complement for our select-service brands,’ Jacobs added.
