Marriott reports record commissions
Marriott International Inc. says it has broken its record for commissions paid to agents last year.
“2005 was a year of growth for the travel agent community,” said Fred Miller, vice president of global sales for Marriott.
The hotel giant paid out $177 million in agent commissions, he said.
Marriott has a “Hotel Excellence” program that includes a one-day, self-paced training program.
Agents use a workbook to answer questions about generic lodging sales issues as well as the benefits and diversity of the chain’s program.
