Melbourne Airport passenger traffic continues recovery

Melbourne Airport passenger traffic is edging closer toward a full recovery.

It welcomed more than 20 million passengers this financial year as international airline capacity returns.

A total of 2.3 million travellers passed through the terminals in February, representing 81% of  2019 levels.

In what is the quietest month of the year, Melbourne Airport handled 659,000 international travelers.

India, New Zealand, China, the UK and Malaysia were the main overseas markets.

“We worked hard to secure extra flights to India and Malaysia as well as a return of capacity to Europe,” said airport CEO Lorie Argus.
