Melbourne’s new Space encounter
Space Hotel has opened its first hotel in Australia, located in Melbourne’s CBD on the former Vic Hall site in Russell Street.
The original building has been refurbished and developed to include128 rooms and entertainment facilities.
The first hotel of its kind in Australia, it is targeting backpackers, business people and families. Other hotels in the chain will be developed across Australia and New Zealand.
After nearly three years of construction, the property is now fully functional across the eight floors of 16 different room types that include dorm beds from $28 to penthouse suites with city skyline views.
There is a free in-house cinema, library and outdoor barbecue plus the Space rooftop – due to open in November – that includes a huge spa overlooking the western aspect of the city.
The hotel said the rooms and facilities will attract those “who are looking for a cost effective, quality accommodation solution with an emphasis on promoting social experiencesâ€.
