Melia to debut in Manhattan

Monday, 24 Mar, 2014 0

Spanish hotel chain Melia Hotels will open its first hotel in New York in 2016.

Under its Innside by Melia brand, the hotel will be located in a 20-story new build on West 27th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, a few minutes from the Empire State Building.

It will have 313 rooms, a restaurant, bar and meeting rooms.

The opening is part of the group’s aggressive growth strategy, which includes plans for new hotel projects in key gateway cities such as New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

"We have identified specific, large North American cities, whose Latin influence and cosmopolitan atmosphere provide brands like Melia, Me by Melia and Innside by Melia an extraordinary opportunity for development," said vice chairman and CEO Gabriel Escarrer.
