Members-only airline launched
Switzerland: Carrier boasts of five-minute check-in facility
A Swiss company is to set up a “members only” airline offering flights between Geneva and Paris and London. The Financial Times reports that Club Airways will be aiming its services at busy executives; as part of its service will be a five-minute check-in, concierges to carry passengers’ luggage, an alerting system to tell hotels what time their guests will be arriving. Club Airways is aiming to launch its service with prices matching business-class fares on regular scheduled carriers, but it says prices are likely to rise slightly once the company is “up and running”. Services will operate out of Geneva’s main airport, Cointrin, and will fly to Le Bourget in France and Farnborough in Surrey. Plans for the future include services to Frankfurt and Zurich, with further expansion possible if things go well. Companies and/or individuals will be offered membership of the new airline.
