Memphis CVB announces soulful rebrand
Memphis is hoping to lure more visitors with a little more soul.
A comprehensive rebrand for the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau sees a new name – Memphis Tourism.
A new guitar themed logo has been rolled out showcasing its celebrated musical roots.
With this comes a new tagline – ‘Memphis: Home of the Blues, Soul and Rock N Roll.’
"We tested this logo with thousands of people before we settled on this look. This thing has been tested from Europe to Memphis," said Memphis Tourism president Kevin Kane.
"We did our research; home was very important. There was a strong connection to home, and obviously a strong connection to soul."
"Memphis is a hot destination. People want to come here. We have unique, one-of-a-kind, very special amenities," Kane added.
A $175 million expansion of the Memphis Cook Convention Center is already underway and is slated for completion in late 2019.
Work includes connecting the convention center to the Sheraton Memphis Downtown Hotel.
Tourism is a $3.3 billion industry as Memphis welcomed 11.7 million visitors in 2017, up by 500,000 from the year before.
