Men arrested after alleged sexual assault on P&O cross-Channel ferry
Two men, aged 25 and 46, have been arrested following allegations of sexual assault on board a P&O ferry.
Port of Dover Police said the pair had been in custody since Monday.
The incident allegedly happened on P&O Ferries’ Spirit of France, where a small fire also broke out on the deck during the same cross-Channel trip. It was extinguished by crew.
A spokesman for the ferry company said passengers leaving the ship in Dover on Monday were delayed 45 minutes while waiting for officers to arrest the two men.
He said: "We received an allegation about two passengers which we passed to the police.
"As is our standard practice, disembarkation from the ship was unfortunately delayed for 45 minutes while officers arrived to meet the individuals involved.
"We would like to apologise sincerely to the other passengers for any inconvenience this may have caused to their onward journeys."
