Mercure opens new London hotel

Mercure has opened its 79th UK hotel, a London townhouse near Hyde Park and Paddington.

Located at 8-14 Talbot Square, the 72-room, the three-suite hotel, called the Mercure London Hyde Park, has a locally inspired 1920s cinema theme, reflecting the surrounding area’s involvement in the birth of the modern film industry, including Hyde Park, where the world’s first moving pictures were filmed.

The hotel has a gym, restaurant and is close to the busy transport hub of Paddington station and ideally positioned to visit the City or Canary Wharf by tube.

Inge van Ooteghem, senior vice president for upscale and midscale brands at Accor Hotels UK and Ireland, said: "This is an exciting addition to Mercure’s London portfolio, and its location alone will make it a very popular destination for international and domestic guests alike.

"The traditional British look and feel of the Mercure London Hyde Park is perfectly complemented by the contemporary interior design and we’re confident guests will have a truly wonderful stay here in London."

The new opening makes a total of 732 hotels in the Mercure portfolio with over 90,000 rooms in 55 countries.

Prices start at £131 per night.
