Michigan Announces Growth In International Visitors
Michigan has announced a 42% growth in overseas visitors, year on year, 2014-2015, which is the largest growth rate of any state in the USA.* The top three countries travelling to the state were Germany, the United Kingdom and China.
The state was also the primary destination for 69% of the international travellers surveyed, demonstrating that Michigan is not merely a gateway but attracts visitors wishing to spend time exploring its many attractions, including water sports, hiking, biking, golf, horse riding, museums, breweries, wineries and historic sites. European visitors spent an average of $1,236 during their time in Michigan.
Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, commented: "I am delighted that our international marketing is having such a positive impact. We will continue to promote the state as the destination of choice for travellers in search of an authentic American experience."
