Minions and Super Mario coming to Universal Singapore
Genting Singapore has inked a $4.5 billion deal to significantly expand its Resorts World Sentosa theme park resort.
However, the company saw its share price plunge on a big 50% hike in casino entry fees imposed by the Singapore government.
The so-called RWS 2.0 expansion will see an extra 164,000 square metres of new attractions and entertainment.
Universal Studios Singapore and S.E.A. Aquarium will both be expanded with the former getting new themed areas based on the Minions and Super Nintendo World.
It will be constructed in phases with new attractions opening each year from 2020-2025.
Minion Park will feature the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem 3D motion simulator ride.
S.E.A. Aquarium is will triple in size and be rebranded to Singapore Oceanarium.
New exhibits will focus on evolution, marine exploration and conservation and will adopt the latest digital technology.
Additionally, two new hotels will be constructed, adding up to 1,100 more rooms, and the waterfront promenade will be completely revamped with new dining and lifestyle facilities.
