Monaco lays on a sporting feast
Monaco has a big year ahead with several top-class sports events on the calendar.
These include the Monte-Carlo Tennis Rolex Masters, the Formula 1 motor racing Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show.
Cultural highlights include the annual International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, the Sporting Summer Festival, Television Festival and the International Fireworks Competition.
World-class motorsport competitions include the Rallye de Monte-Carlo Historique, the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco, the F1 Grand Prix and the Monaco Automobile Elegance Competition
The Rallye de Monte-Carlo Historique January 22-29 is a one-week event open to cars that have participated in the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo between 1955 and 1980.
Participants will start from six different departure cities: Barcelona, Glasgow, Monte-Carlo, Oslo, Stockholm and Reims.
Before reaching Monaco, the drivers and their cars will face several challenges to reach different rallying points across the French Riviera.
Grand Prix Historique de Monaco May 9-11 will take place two weeks before the F1 Grand Prix de Monaco and is a sprint race, contested on the legendary circuit of Monaco.
The Grand Prix Formula 1 of Monaco May 22-25 is considered to be raced on the most challenging circuit of the F1 world championship.
The Monaco Automobile Elegance Competition June 27-29 is being revived 13 years after the last event in September 2001.
The Concours d’Elegance Automobile will present around 50 vintage cars ranging from pre-war models through to post-war cars and concept cars for the future.
To kick off the competition the participants will be welcomed at the Hotel de Paris located on the Place du Casino.
On Saturday June 28, there will be a tour to the hinterland with an authentic lunch celebrating traditional French Riviera cuisine.
The highlight of the three-day programme will be an exhibition and a parade of the participating cars in the Palace of Monaco square, followed by a gala dinner held at the Prince’s Palace.
