Monarch cancels summer programme to Sharm el-Sheikh
Monarch Airlines has cancelled its flights to Sharm el-Sheikh until October 30.
It follows a decision by Thomas Cook to cancel its summer flights to the Red Sea resort.
EasyJet has also cancelled its flights to Sharm from Gatwick, Manchester and Luton for the summer, although it is hoping to resume flights from Stansted as soon as the UK government says it is safe to do so.
Thomson has cancelled most flights to Sharm until the end of September, but it is hoping to relaunch weekly flights from Gatwick and Manchester on May 26 if it gets the government go-ahead.
BA flights to the resort have been cancelled until June 30.
Monarch customers who had booked to travel this summer can get a full refund or re-book to other destinations free of charge within certain dates.
They can also receive a full credit for their flight, plus an additional 10% to be used within 12 months, or re-book on any future Sharm el-Sheikh flight free of charge, from November 1 to December 19.
Customers are being asked to select an option by April 8.
The airline has added extra flights to the Canary Islands, the Algarve, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga.
"The safety and security of our passengers will always remain our number one priority," said Monarch on its blog.
"While this ongoing situation is beyond our control, Monarch would like to apologise to all affected customers for the inconvenience that it has caused."
If the FCO travel advice changes before the end of October, Monarch said it will reassess the situation and decide when to restart services to Sharm.
