Monarch Gatwick slots snapped up by IAG
International Airlines Group has reportedly secured the majority of Monarch Airline’s Gatwick take-off and landing slots.
Press Association said that, according to a source, IAG has acquired most of the Monarch’s slots at Gatwick, which is Britain’s second busiest airport.
The deal follows last week’s court appeal which ruled the lucrative slots could be sold by administrators.
EasyJet, Wizz Air and Norwegian had also been keen to acquire the slots, according to the source.
Monarch’s take-off and landing slots at Luton airport are also being auctioned off.
Together, the Gatwick and Luton slots are believed to be worth about £60m.
IAG has not yet commented on the reported deal.
