Monarch pulls out of Kenya beach resorts
Cosmos parent company is the latest operator to announce it is suspending sales of beach holidays in Kenya after the Foreign Office warned parts of Mombasa are not safe for British tourists.
The operator has followed Thomson, First Choice and Kuoni in withdrawing its beach programme.
In a statement released today, it said: "The Monarch Travel Group has withdrawn its Mombasa beach programme.
"Those customers travelling in the next six weeks are being offered cancellation of their holiday free of charge or the option of transferring to a suitable alternative holiday.
"This affects beach package bookings with Cosmos Holidays, accommodation-only bookings with somewhere2stay as well as Mombasa beach extensions to safari holidays with sister companies, Cosmos Tours & Cruises and Archers Holidays.
"Currently, the Monarch Travel Group has four accommodation-only passengers in Mombasa who will be advised to contact the airline they travelled with for any amendment to their travel arrangements.
"This change in the programme will be reviewed on a monthly basis. Normal booking conditions apply."
