More airlines report strong August figures
EasyJet carried 6.6 million passenger numbers in August, an 8.4% jump from the previous year.
Its load factors for August were 94.2%, up from 92.8% in August 2013.
In the year to date, easyJet passenger numbers have risen 6.4% to 64.3 million, while load factors have risen 1.1 percentage points to 90.3%.
Meanwhile, Norwegian reported today that it carried 2.3 million passengers in August, a 19% rise on the previous year. Load factors were 83.6%, up 4.4 percentage points.
“The fact that an increasing number of customers outside of Scandinavia choose to fly with Norwegian, proves that our international strategy is working,” said CEO Bj-rn Kjos.
“The August figures are also influenced by major holiday traffic outside of Scandinavia, particularly out of the UK, where Norwegian has a considerable operation."
Yesterday, Ryanair also reported strong August figures, with load factors at 93%, the highest since 2002.
Ryanair carried 9.4 million passengers in August, 400,000 more than in August 2013.
