Mövenpick has announced an expansion in Thailand with agreement reached to manage three more hotels.

The company will add a second location in Bangkok with Mövenpick Residences Ekkamai, and resorts in Khao Yai and Phuket.

Mövenpick Residences Ekkamai features 160 serviced apartments of one, two and three bedrooms.

"This is our second property in Bangkok and the debut of our exclusive serviced apartment brand, Mövenpick Residences. It’s our third resort in Phuket, while in Khao Yai we are delighted to be opening up the first truly internationally managed resort in this well known domestic destination," said Andrew Langdon, senior vice president Asia.

Bangkok and Khao Yai are both slated to open later this year.

Mövenpick Resort Mai Khao Phuket will launch in late 2017 and will have 220 guestrooms, all-day dining restaurant, three swimming pools, fitness centre and spa.

Mövenpick currently operates eight hotels in Asia, half of which are located in Thailand, and is targeting a portfolio of 30 Asian hotels by 2020.
