MSC warns agents not to discount
MSC Cruises has warned agents they must stop discounting as part of the newly negotiated commercial agreements.
The cruise line claims the discounts are "confusing for customers and causing frustration among the trade".
In return MSC Cruises is also stopping its 5% online discount message and is offering agents more marketing support.
Giulio Libutti, MSC Cruises UK & Ireland managing director, said "MSC Cruises will take appropriate action if agents continue to discount MSC Cruises product.
"I hope this move will bring more clarity and a level playing field to the market".
MSC has completed its 2013 commercial agreements offering agents between 10-14% rather than a flat rate preferred by some cruise companies.
Commission levels have been set according to ‘season and product’, it said.
