MSC’s first LNG cruise ship begins Med cruise season
MSC Cruises’ first LNG ship MSC World Europa has begun its first summer season in the Mediterranean.
Delivered in October 2022, MSC World Europa is MSC Cruises’ largest vessel.
It arrived after a first deployment in the Arabian Gulf.
The ship will be powered by LNG throughout the summer season.
The ship includes a 150-kilowatt SOFC demonstrator that uses LNG to produce electricity and heat on board.
MSC World Europa is also equipped with shore power plug-in connectivity.
“The efficiency has exceeded our expectations. We have operated the system continually and it has delivered a steady output,” said Linden Coppell, Sustainability VP.
It features the World Promenade and new entertainment options such as three new concert-style shows in the Luna Park Arena.
There are four themed experiences in the Panorama Lounge and pop-up live shows throughout the ship.
MSC World Europa’s kid’s area will be the largest in the fleet, with over 766 sqm of interior space spanning seven rooms
In addition, there are seven swimming pools and 13 whirlpools located across the ship.
