Multiple good news from CLIA
Travel agent membership in CLIA has grown. Attrition has fallen greatly. And numbers of CLIA passengers are continuing to rise.
CLIA estimates it will have 16,300 travel agency members by the end of 2004, a 2% improvement over 2003.
The number of CLIA members leaving has fallen to its lowest rate since 1997, despite consolidation, reported CLIA’s 2004 Membership Benefits Study.
Member fleets of CLIA carried 2,419,921 worldwide guests in the first quarter of 2004, a 9.1% increase over the same period in 203. North American passengers grew 6.8% during that same time period.
New statistics show CLIA members lines now represent over 95% of the cruise capacity marketed in North America.
Itineraries of 9 to 17 days showed the highest rate of growth, with 25.6% more passengers in 2004 compared with a year earlier.
The study also found most agents continued to be pleased with CLIA. Ninety-five percent of respondents valued CLIA membership, with three of four placing that value among the two highest rankings.
The Membership Benefits study was conducted by TNS Plog Research.
