A report on www.arabianbusiness.com today says that Emirates Hotels & Resorts has awarded Multiplex a AED2.1 billion ($US571.8 million) contract to build Emirates Park Towers Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, the Australian developer announced on Wednesday.

Work will begin next month and will include construction of two 80-storey hotel towers with over 900 guest rooms and 300 serviced apartments.

The complex will feature restaurants and rooftop bars, as well as an auditorium, banquet hall, business centre and a health club.

“This is a significant contract for Multiplex, increasing our presence in the region and we are very pleased to be working with Emirates and their consultant team on this exciting project,” said Graeme Robson, managing director of Multiplex, Middle East and UK.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2010.
