Mystery disappearance of Welsh tourist
A holidaymaker has gone missing in the Canary Islands.
Eileen Owen, 53, from Abercynon in South Wales, is reported to have vanished from her apartment in Gran Canaria in the early hours of Sunday, July 18.
Police have launched a search of the island and have distributed posters asking for information about Mrs Owen, who was on holiday with her husband Michael. He woke up at two o’clock in the morning to find her gone.
A spokeswoman from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office told the Press Association: “We are providing the family with consular assistance. A police investigation is under way and posters have been displayed, including in the consulate in Las Palmas.”
The missing woman is said not to have taken any money with her, and the couple’s children have flown out to help in the search.
