MyTravelLite boosts routes
In spite of its parent company’s misfortunes, MyTravelLite has announced expansion for next Summer.
From 30 March the carrier will offer six more routes out of its base at Birmingham International Airport thanks to the addition of two Airbus 320 aircraft.
The new routes are to Pisa, Rimini, Knock (Ireland), Barcelona, Murcia and Palma. Fares will start at £19 one-way to Knock and £29 one-way to all other destinations. MyTravelLite faces direct competition from Iberia and British Airways between Birmingham and Barcelona.
The no-frills carrier hopes to woo travellers away from Stansted. MyTravelLite managing director, Tim Jeans said: “Our expanded network means ‘good riddance’ to Stansted for thousands of Midlands travellers”.
Fronting the MyTravelLite campaign to promote its fares, is the bright-eyed presenter of BBC Bargain Hunt, David Dickinson, whose catch phrase is “As Cheap as Chips”.
Mr Jeans said he thought Mr Dickinson’s “cheeky chappy celebrity persona” was perfect for the campaign.
