Nasa tests out 5,000 mph jet
The US space agency Nasa is claiming that air travel will soon be revolutionised following the successful testing of a 5,000 mph superjet. The X-43 jet reached an amazing seven times the speed of sound in tests at the weekend – such a high speed that a trip from London to New York could take as little as 40 minutes. According to the Daily Mail, the trip from London to Sydney would take just two hours in the X-43 – and that Nasa is planning to have a version ready to carry passengers by 2020. The space agency now has plans to test the special engine to Mach 10, or an amazing 7,000 miles per hour. Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad
