NCL scraps UK launch of new ship
Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled the UK trade launch of new ship Pride of America.
The event, due to be held in Dover on June 7, has been scrapped as the vessel is to sail directly from its German shipyard to New York.
A company spokeswoman said: “The extra time freed up by cancellation of the trade inaugural events will be used to complete the storing and cleaning of the ship prior to sailing.”
She said that following discussions with shipyard Lloyd Werft which is building Pride of America, NCL America has taken the decision to sail directly to New York from Germany rather than stopping in the UK for a day of trade-oriented inaugural activities. The scheduled delivery of the ship remains June 6.
The ship is set to arrive in New York on schedule on June 15.
