New additions brings Corpus Christi up to 11,000 rooms

Corpus Christi, the biggest city on the Gulf Shores, is adding to its meeting reputation by getting 1,000 new rooms this year to hit the 11,000 room number.

The most economical rates for meeting planners: from November through February, according to Annie L. Hacker, communications manager for the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau.

At that time, “hotels and their meetings space are at their lowest of the year,” she said.

The biggest meeting space is the high-tech American Bank Center, which has 1,700 hotel rooms within two miles. The facility can hold up to 7,000 attendees.

Other venues include the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, which can handle 2,000 people. With the recently opened Whataburger baseball stadium, convention-goers can see a professional baseball team play.

Another convention site is the U.S.S. Lexington World War II aircraft carrier, according to Ms Hacker.
