New beginning for Rottnest Lodge
Western Australia’s holiday playground, Rottnest Island, has a new operator of the Rottnest Lodge – The Karma Royal Group.
Rottnest Lodge will form part of Chakra, a new four-star lifestyle brand currently in development by the group to complement the expanding five star Karma Resorts brand.
Karma Royal Group’s vision for Rottnest Lodge will see significant upgrades with a focus on renovating the restaurants and bars and revamping the food and beverage throughout the resort.
The property will host events such as top DJ’s, fashion shows and wine weekends throughout the year, with plans to add a spa to enhance the experience of its guests.
John Spence, chairman and CEO of Karma Royal Group, said he was still interested in developing a luxury resort on Rottnest and hopes to have talks with the Western Australian government whose preferred developer for the resort, Pinctada Hotels and Resorts, recently withdrew from the project.
Rottnest Island is located 18 km off the coast of Western Australia, near Fremantle, and is accessible by air (12 minute flight from Perth) or by sea, via ferry or private boat.
Currently, Rottnest Lodge comprises 80 rooms with six styles of accommodation and a total capacity of 239 people.
