New Cancun convention promotion offers coupon discounts
The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is distributing over 10,000 complimentary discount cards to group and convention attendees, providing special savings at over 140 participating restaurants, retailers, golf courses and other travel-related companies within Cancun and nearby Puerto Morelos.
”Meeting attendees, including their families and other travel companions, will obtain exclusive discounts ranging from 10 to 50% on products and services at participating businesses,” said the CVB.
The first cards will be distributed through the city’s 154,000 square foot convention center, the Cancun Center, as well as more than twenty hotels that also organize group events. Discount cards will be valid until August 2008.
“On average, visitors with groups and conventions stay four days and three nights in our destination and spend 925$USA per person, as compared to leisure visitors who spend on average 688$USA,” said Arturo Escaip Manzur, general director of the Cancun CVB.
In addition to the new discount cards, Cancun will continue to offer its tax-free incentive for meetings, exempting events from the usual 10% tax on beverages, meals, accommodations, entertainment and event services for the entire event, plus up to two nights before and after the event.
Cancun, situated on the northeastern tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, is known for its 16-mile stretch of white sandy beaches, luxury hotels, varied recreation and proximity to historic Mayan archeological sites.
Visitors to Cancun can see the Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world. There are also a variety of sports activities that capitalize on Cancun’s clear blue waters.
