New Datalex technology for Vail Resorts
An estimated $1 million has been spent on new Datalex technology to help holidaymakers purchase ski packages online at resorts in Vail, US.
Visitors clicking on to www.snow.com can now package together different components of a ski holiday and check in real-time for room availability.
The technology has been supplied in conjunction with travel industry technology provider Datalex and chief technology officer Jim Peters (left) told TravelMole: “Vail has five resorts and a huge room inventory but it was all sold separately and previously you couldn’t check for accommodation in real time.
“Research showed that a small number of people used the website to book trips, but this should now change.”
Peters said it was possible to buy a complete range of holidays from a couple of nights in budget accommodation to a week in a luxury condominium for up to $6,000.
“There is a lot of competition in the US market and this can give us an advantage,” said Peters. “This is a trend. We are not inventing anything but we are at the forefront of what is happening.”
