New director at Traveltek to lead international expansion
Traveltek Group has appointed Robert Chamberlin to the new role of director of global cruise and strategic partnerships to spearhead the company’s international expansion plans.
Chamberlin, who is also heading up the Glasgow-based firm’s US office in Miami, will focus on developing the group’s cruise distribution business, as well as its partnerships with global travel companies.
He previously spent 12 years at Amadeus IT where he was responsible for the GDS company’s cruise and ferry business units in both Miami and Nice, before moving to Sydney, where he headed up the Amadeus Global Customer Group Pacific division.
Prior to working at Amadeus, Chamberlin spent three years managing product development, sales and marketing teams at Worldspan.
During his time at both GDS providers, he was instrumental in developing and deploying innovative distribution solutions for the cruise and leisure travel industries across multiple markets worldwide, said Traveltek.
"I am delighted to welcome Robert to the Traveltek team as we embark on an exciting international growth phase and consolidate our position as the market-leading travel technology provider," said Kenny Picken, president and CEO.
"Robert will spearhead our ambitious expansion strategy based on his unrivalled international experience in cruise and leisure travel distribution and his established relationships with all of the major suppliers, retailers and wholesalers for both industries. He is a huge asset to our growing team."
Chamberlin’s appointment comes after Traveltek secured a £5.3 million investment from private equity fund manager YFM.
The capital injection will be ploughed into product development and global expansion, with more international offices planned.
"I am very excited to start a new challenge with Traveltek and look forward to working with the company’s extensive global team to grow the deployment and adoption of its already extensive and cutting-edge suite of products," said Chamberlin.
